Duke of York registers daughter's birth

October 2, 1930

The Duke of York registered the birth today of his second daughter, Princess Margaret, reports the Associated Press.  The registration took place at the Glamis village post office.  Princess Margaret Rose was born on August 21 at Glamis Castle.

The registration was delayed "longer than usual" as the duke and duchess wanted to avoid having their daughter entered as the thirteen birth in Glamis this year.

Had the Duke entered her birth earlier,  she would have "inevitably have gone into the thirteenth place."   However, another child has been born in the village, and was registered in the thirteenth place.

Princess Margaret Rose was entered as Number 14.

Would they really have waiting for that reason? Crazy.
