Franz Ferndinand's illegitimate son sues for support

December 5, 1936

Ferdinand Kurt Hahn, who is described as the illegitimate son of the late Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, has filed suit against Franz Ferdinand's legitimate son and heir, Duke Max of Hohenberg.
Hahn has gone to court in Vienna and is seeking an allowance of $200 per month, from Duke Max.
Franz Ferdinand and his morganatic wife, the Duchess of Hohenberg, were assassinated on June 28, 1914 by Gavrilo Prinzip. Their deaths precipitated the start of the world war.
Hahn fought with the Austrian army in the war, and "was stricken with a rheumatic affliction afterward." He spent some time in the United States, but when his condition became worse, he and his wife returned to Vienna, where they now live "in great poverty." He is so crippled by the rheumatism that he can no longer walk.
